Add a product

Open Products in the menu, then click Add a product .

All you need is the Name, Category, and Unit price. The rest are optional.

The optional fields

  • Code — completely optional. A short code you can use to find this product, such as "TEE".
  • Wholesale price — a lower price for customers who buy in bulk. Tick Wholesale pricing enabled on the customer, and they are charged this price. You can leave this blank.
  • Tax rate — this only shows when your business charges tax. Leave it on Default unless this product uses a different tax rate.
  • State — Active products show in your list. Choose Inactive when you no longer sell it.

Unit price can be left blank if your product has variants. If you keep it, then it becomes the base price for all variants and you can override it for selected variants.

Sell by a measure

Turn on Use measured quantities when you sell by a measure, not by the piece.

Examples of measured quantities

  • Piping sold by the metre ("/m"): type "2.5" for two and a half metres.
  • Decanting sold by the litre ("/l"): type "0.5" for 500ml.

Leave it off for things you count, such as tins. Those products can only be sold in whole numbers, such as "4".

Track what you have on hand

On a new product with no options, click Track stock for this product. Type how many you already have in Opening stock on hand.

You can start tracking stock on an existing product by clicking Adjust stock and entering a new starting point.

If the product has variations, stock is kept on each variants.

Add a product to a quote, invoice, purchase order, or bill

Add a line and start typing the product name or code. Pick your product from the list. The name, price and category are filled in automatically for you.

If the product has options, each version is listed on its own. See variants.
