Import products
Bring in many products from a spreadsheet. Open Products, then Import products .
Set up the file
Use Excel, or a CSV file. Put the column names in the first row. Clarimon shows that row so you can match the columns. It does not save that row as a product.
A product with no options
All you need are columns for the name, category, and unit price and one row per product.
| Name | Category | Unit Price |
|---|---|---|
| Blue pen | Stationery | 15 |
A product with options
You will need to have one row for each variant you sell. See options and variants.
You don’t need to repeat the name, category, option names, or a value that stays the same. Clarimon copies each blank cell from the row above. In this example, Tin stays, and the size changes.
| Name | Category | Option 1 | Value 1 | Option 2 | Value 2 | Variant price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tea | Beverages | Packaging | Tin | Size | 100g | 100 |
| 250g | 175 | |||||
| Coffee | Beverages | Packaging | Bag | Size | 250g | 200 |
| 500g | 350 | |||||
| Coffee | Beverages | Packaging | Tin | Size | 250g | 300 |
| 500g | 500 |
You can use up to three options. Fill in option 1 before option 2 and so on.
Other columns you can add
- Code — a short code for the product. Type it on the first row. Later rows can leave it blank.
- Wholesale Price — a lower price for customers who buy in bulk.
- Initial stock — how many you already have.
- Value code 1, Value code 2, Value code 3 — a short code for that value. If you use one, the product needs a Code, so the codes can be joined. Use the same value code every time that value appears.
- Variant code — a code for that version only. Use this when you do not want the joined code.
- Variant price — the price for that version. Use this when versions cost different amounts.
- Variant wholesale — the bulk price for that version.
If every version costs the same, put that price in Unit Price and leave Variant price blank.
Every version of one product must use the same option names. Do not mix a plain row and an option row under the same name.
Match the columns
Click Choose file and pick the spreadsheet.
Clarimon shows the first rows and asks what each column is. For each column, pick the name that matches the data: Name, Category, Unit Price, Option 1, Value 1, Variant price, and so on.
Name and Category are required. You also need Unit Price or Variant price.
Choose Ignore for a column you do not want.
When the columns look right, click Import products. Clarimon shows how many products have been imported, then you land back on Products.
